EXCLUSIVE: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Ulrich Thomsen and Joachim Fjelstrup will lead the cast of Men With Problems, the new feature from Dogme 95 director Ole Christian Madsen.
Helena Danielsson is producing for Denmark’s Nordisk Film Production; the film is currently financing, ahead of a spring 2026 shoot on location in Mallorca.
Written by Madsen and Simon Weil, comedy Men With Problems follows seven chronically depressed men who are selected for a new form of conversational therapy at a resort on Mallorca, where if they are lucky, they will move forward to LSD therapy. The conflict-ridden group then come under attack from the pharmaceutical industry.
“The film we would like to make is less about depression as a clinical phenomenon, and more about other layers,” said Madsen. “What is the interpersonal consequence of depression? What does it do to you and others?”
Madsen filmed 2001 feature Kira’s Reason: A Love Story using the minimalist techniques of the Dogme 95 movement.
Danielsson joined Nordisk Film Production Denmark earlier this year, having produced films including Brady Corbet’s The Childhoof of a Leader and Lasse Hallstrom’s Hilma.
